In 1971, Skaggs, who had a farm nearby, discovered that the dilapidated and abandoned Earlville Opera House was to be torn down. A parking lot was planned in its place. Today, 45 years later, the Earlville Opera House Arts Center is a thriving community art center, with exhibitions and performances from around the world.
